出典を示す方法にはバンクーバー方式（引用順方式）とハーバード方式（著者名・発行年方式）があります。 バンクーバー方式にするには、{{Citation}}を本文中に置いてください。 ハーバード方式にするには、参考文献の節に置いてください。

本文中に置く（バンクーバー方式）

本文に{{Citation}}を脚注機能で埋め込み、参考文献の節に{{Reflist}}で書誌を表示させる方法です。

  • 本文の出典を示したい記述の直後に、<ref>{{Citation | ...}}</ref> のように、<ref></ref>間に使い、
  • 参考文献の節に、{{Reflist}}と書いて下さい。参考文献は自動で引用順に並べ替えられます。

使用例

参考文献節に置く（ハーバード方式）

参考文献の節に{{Citation}}で書誌を書き、本文からは{{Harv}}でリンクさせる方法です。

  • 本文の出典を示したい記述の直後に、{{Harv}}テンプレートを使って著者姓と年を入力し、
  • 参考文献の節に、{{Citation}}テンプレートを使って全書誌事項を入力します。参考文献の並びは、著者の姓の五十音順・アルファベット順・発行年順に並べ替えてください[3]（文献を追加する際は特に注意）。

こうすることで、{{Harv}}内に入力された著者姓 (last) と西暦年 (year) に該当する{{Citation}}にリンクができます。

なお、last引数（著者姓）とyear引数（出版年または採録年）は可能な限り入力してください[4]。出版年が不明の場合は「n.d.」と入力してください[5]。 この2つの引数がないと、{{Harv}}テンプレートによるハーバード方式での参照（著者姓 西暦年）が動作できません。

  • publisher: 発行所。「株式会社」「有限会社」「～法人」「Publishers」「Co.」「Inc.」「Ltd.」等は省きますが、社名の一部である「書店」「出版」「Books」「Press」は省かず、入力してください。
  • id: ISBN 1-111-22222-9のような識別符号。
  • isbn: ISBN。
  • url: 図書がオンラインである場合のURL。

日付の書き方

date、publication-date引数は、Yourpedia:表記ガイド#年月日・時間に基づき、数字は半角、年は西暦4桁、月日がひと桁の場合は十の位に0を書かず、年月日間に空白を置かないで入力して下さい。

  • date = 1990年2月4日
  • date = 1990年2月（日がわからない場合）
  • date = 1990年（月日がわからない場合）
  • year = n.d.（全くわからない場合[5]）

なお、year引数には「年」を入れないで下さい。 入れると、{{Harv}}との連携に支障をきたします。 date引数の方に「年」を含んで入力すれば、「年」を表示することができますので、半角数字だけのyearと、「年」を含んだdateの両方を入力してください。

公表と出版の時期が異なる場合は、「year」引数には公表の年を、「date」引数には公表日を、「publication-date」引数には出版日を入力してください。

和書の書誌の書き方

{{Citation}}による出力は、概ねAPA書式になります (アメリカ心理学会 n.d. ) 。 和書の書誌の書き方を示した公定法に、文部科学省所管の科学技術振興機構による科学技術情報流通技術基準[7]があります。 APAに類似した約物を和洋を問わず採用しており[8]、学界の和文誌では正式な書式として広く用いられています。

和書特有の約物である二重かぎ括弧（『』）を用いた書き方は、{{Cite book}}及び{{Cite journal}}の和書モードを用いれば可能です[9]。
